This doctoral dissertation analysis of chloride ingress is an important part of the durability design of concrete structures. A computational model based on the finite element method is presented here, which links chloride transport to moisture migration and heat flow in concrete. Model simulations are compared to experimental data. Contents include: Moisture and salt transport models for porous media, A unified approach to heat, moisture and chloride ion transport in concrete, numerical elaboration, application of the model, Sensitivity and chloride-moisture couplings, Conclusions and recommendations.
