The purpose of this book is to bring together the key sources and dimensions of parenting by treating 'parenting' as a field of interest in its own. The book is organized into six core dimensions of parenting: Internal sources of variations in parenting behavior. Parenting within the family as a social system.
Intergenerational pathways of parenting. Parenting in the interface between family roles and outside roles. Parenting as a culture and cultural change. Building and testing comprehensive models of parenting. Each core dimension is worked out in three different chapters representing various theoretical and/or methodological perspectives and approaches.
Each part ends with a brief review of the preceding chapters and an outlook on future directions. This work may serve as a reference guide for researchers and practitioners, next to a text in courses for family sciences in general and for family psychology in particular.
Sociology; Family welfare
