More than 70 percent of the earth's surface is covered in water. According to the United Nations, the oceans contain around 80 percent of the world's life forms. From this vast reserve, fishermen take over 100 million tonnes of fish per year, providing a livlihood for around 200 million people. But, however enormous the oceans may seem, they are not infinite and, as the cod fishermen of Canada recently discovered, stocks can be depleted.
