The present issue of The Spokesman is given over almost entirely to the publication of papers which were submitted to the first European Convention for Full Employment. This gathered in the European Parliament in Brussels on 22/23 May 1997.
It did so in response to the Appeal which we published in our last number, calling for urgent action to prevent the continuous rise in unemployment in the European Union and further afield, and insisting that the goal of full employment was still not only relevant but necessary to civilized politics at the end of the twentieth century.
