Politics is about ideas. The frame analysis research field investigates how ideas present opportunities for political action, as well as restrictions. Within this field the dominant focus has been on how frames become successful with an audience. This thesis argues that an audience-centered focus limits the potential to investigate frame effects and suggests a new actor-centered approach to frame analysis. This approach captures the fact that frames often have repercussions on the actors involved in the framing process and their perceived manoeuverability for action.
