This Ph.D. thesis investigates differences in manifesting emotions in the Polish writer Henryk Sienkiewicz's texts and their Swedish translations, as well as the translation strategies used in this area. The empirical base material for the dissertation consists of three short stories and one novel. The study begins by presenting Sienkiewicz and his texts, and discussing criteria for selecting research material. The concept of emotion is subsequently explored, and theoretical and methodological issues are addressed. Lastly, the comparative analysis and accompanying conclusions are presented.
