This book, which covers period from the 4th to the 9th centuries, undoubtedly represents a unique summary of the knowledge of the history of sacral building related to the cult of the relics and the saints that its author has gained so far, and the issues which have deserved the respect of the believers in Macedonia over the centuries.

On the other hand, this study bears witness to the fact that Macedonia was part of the general development of Christianity and to the receptiveness and ability of its clergy to contribute in an autochtonous manner to the processes of the development of the Christian thought and to organize numerous Episcopal centers in which cult building, the visual and applied arts were to be supported and nurtured.

The dignity and the high values of this text, the authenticity of the expression and the discourse close to a wider readership are the result of the personal qualities of the author on the one hand, and on the other, it is the result of the author's long-standing experience which she has gained by means of direct archaeological research and immediate contact with the material.

This experience, scrutinized and valorized through literary historical sources, has become an irrefutable testimony to the history Macedonia through the centuries. This book represents an indispensable and comprehensive review of the events in the field of cult building, the visual and applied arts in the Early Christian period in Macedonia, thus being of permanent value in the field of expert and scholarly research and literature.
