Several textbooks on plant taxonomy are available in India, but for Plant Biosystematics, books are scarce. The preparation of this book was motivated by a long felt need for a concise yet fairly comprehensive book of Plant Biosystematics for use in Indian colleges and universities.
This book is comprised of 17 important chapters in which topics such as plant taxonomy and its relationship to species and subspecies, evolutionary biology, the comparison of taxonomy and plant biosystematics, the basic process of speciation, taxonomic puzzles related to anatomy, palynology, cytology, numerical taxonomy, etc. and the hybridization process have all been explained comprehensively.
Though the UGC has a curriculum syllabus, due to a lack of books the course was not accommodated in many universities. This book will cater to the needs of students as well as instructors.
