Description:
The current orthodox exegesis is still almost exclusively characterized by the reproduction of patristic biblical interpretations and hermeneutics, while Western exegesis has undergone a profound hermeneutic reflection process since the Enlightenment, and has developed a corresponding methodological instrument. What is typical of orthodox exegesis is perceived as being inadequate by academic Western exegesis, and vice versa. In his study, Cosmin Pricop raises the question of how these approaches can enrich each other. He correlates the patristic interpretation of the Bible with the scientific methods of Western exegesis, using the example of the transformation, and shows how they can complement each other. In the context of these perspectives, Pricop's study is conceived as an ecumenical contribution.
