This is the new issue of "Nanoscience and Nanotechnology: Nanostructured materials application and innovation transfer". It contains the contributions of the 8th Workshop "Nanoscience and Nanotechnology", November 20-22, 2006, Sofia, Bulgaria. Organizer of the regular workshops "NANO" is the National Coordination Council on Nanotechnology (ex-National Expert Council on Nanotechnology), Bulgaria.
In the "NANO 2006" were presented 18 oral and 86 poster contributions in 6, still traditional sections:
Theory, modelling, and simulations;
Clusters, nanoparticles, composites;
Thin films, superlayers, quantum dots and nanowires;
Nanophases in bulk materials. Nanocomposites;
Bio-inspired concepts and medical applications;
Micro- and nano-engineering. Nanometrology.
As satellite of the "Nano 2006" Info Day concerning the starting 7FP of EU was held on the last day of the workshop. During the info day, information about the possible participation in the 7FP of EU was discussed. Dr. R. Frycek, of Unit RTD-G4: Nano S&T and Converging Science and Technologies - EC, Brussels, as well as Bulgarian representatives from Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Defense, and Ministry of Economics and Energy presented the contributions on the subject. Also, an exhibition of products of the Company: LABCO LTD - Veeco Agency Miskolc Hungary was presented by its President Ivan Sarlai. More information about these events you can find in the issue.
