The prologue is the key to understanding the entire Gospel of John in many ways. At the same time many questions of its origin and background, its structure and the sources of his formative concepts remain open. The contributions of this volume discuss these issues and lead them to a possible answer. There are reports of the first conference of the Colloquium Ioanneum, an international association of exegetes and exegetes who have worked in a special way to John. The first part of the band dedicated to the history of religion, literary and theological background of the prologue, in the second part perspectives and methods are presented a philosophical interpretation of the prologue and the entire Gospel of John.
