This is a completely new multilingual encyclopedic dictionary reflecting the state of modern medicine at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The entries have been thoroughly updated and expanded by over 50% new and eponymic terms, while the general organization of the book contents retains the good traditions of its predecessor. The enormous advance of medicine in the forty years since the publication of the original version of this book has necessitated that it be completely revised and rewritten. In the new glossary, all terms without exception have been thoroughly updated, with the help of the most modern literary sources, in both the Bulgarian explanatory/encyclopedic section and in the translation equivalents sections in five foreign languages. In addition, this book has substantially expanded to include three new data categories: first, a large number of entirely contemporary new terms; second, the most widely used science and practice; and third, the addition of definitions and explanations of all terms in Spanish, one of the most widely used languages in the world today. As a result, the new book possesses the features not only of a comprehensive polyglot reference source, now in seven languages, but also of a short contemporary medical encyclopedia.
