A revision of the genus Cantacader Amyot & Serville at worldwide scale is presented for the first time. Altogether 34 species are described (or redescribed) and figured on the basis of examination of almost 1200 specimens from different institutional and private collections. Four species new to science are described, illustrated and compared with their relatives with the genus: Cantacader affinis sp.n. from Ghana and Congo-Zaire, C. dilatatus sp. n. from Indonesia (Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi), C. indicus sp. n. from India, and C. natalensis sp. n. from South Africa.
