According to local tradition there was once a farmstead named Skramle, which was deserted due to the Black Death (c.1350) and never resettled again. When excavated the site yielded settlement remains from the 6th-8th and 13th-16th centuries, revealing different aspects of the daily life of well-to-do forest farmers. The excavations were conducted from 1990-1998 by archaeologists from Lund University and local inhabitants.
