The festive calendar in the Pentateuch are since the start of critical biblical scholarship in its center. It was assumed that each of the calendar was created in its specific historical context and therefore a certain stage of development of the ritual and social institutions of Israel exactly represented. Classical hypotheses used the calendar to distinguish the various legal codes in the Pentateuch each other to define the initial formation and forms it into a historical, chronological sequence set in relation to each other. Shimon health challenges this classic historical reconstructions and the methodology behind them.He presents a different perspective from which the holiday laws against just do not give certain ritual and social realities effective historical periods. They form rather through their legal discourse and new ideas they claim using text revision and editorial in lemmatischen style of midrash. Thus, as a group they represent the process of progressive literary development.
