The interests of the Bulgarian zoologists to zoogeography and, correspondingly, to biogeography as a whole, increases considerably. That trend finds expression in the growth of the number of publications during the recent decades, treating zoogeographical matters (general zoogeographic or biogeographic works or publications on the zoogeography of separate taxonomic groups of animals in the country).

The great number of publications in that area requires the formulation of a complete bibliography. It would help zoologists in their further investigations on the zoogeography of Bulgaria. This work initiates a specialized bibliography of zoogeography in Bulgaria. It is divided into two parts: I. General publications on zoogeography (and biogeography with zoogeographical data) about separate taxonomic groups of animals in the country. Each part consists of titles only in Cyrillic and in Latin alphabet.
