WG Lambert (1926-2011) was a leading Assyriologists the second half of the 20th century. His legacy consists mainly of a large number of excellent critical editions of Babylonian literature. Many of the texts which he edited, treated the subjects of religion and mythology. Man is its always as the editor of the Babylonian Job ( Ludlul bel nemeqi , also known as the seal of the suffering righteous), the Babylonian Flood story ( Atra  Hasis ) and the Babylonian Creation Myth ( Enûma Eliš ) commemorate. The present volume brings together twenty-three of his essays on these topics, which he published 1958-2004. These have not only the legacy of a very great scholar in the field of ancient Mesopotamian religion and mythology inventory, but also because their statements of continued validity and importance. Many of these essays are milestones in their field.
